The process of cold forming the threads in a hole is called "fluteless tapping or roll tapping" the hole. It involves the creation of a thread by forming the material rather than cutting it like other taps. This simply means that one type of tool can be used in a wide range of different materials and for both through and blind holes, because there are no chips generated that need to be evacuated out of the hole. We offer a full range of DIN form taps for the creation of internal thread forms. Thanks to a special surface process STOCK fluteless taps show no grinding marks to ensure excellent coating adhesion, longer tool life and improved surface finish quality.

Your Advantages:

- higher tapping speeds

- chipless threading in a wide range of materials

- all tool materials ranging from carbide, HSS-E-PM to HSS-E

- with and without internal cooling

- wide range of thread forms

- for all hole types up to 3.5xD

- special tools on customer’s request

The new generation of fluteless taps, the N-X series, are made from a special mix of powder metallurgical steel material that demonstrates a high wear resistance. A new polishing process in combination with a TiCN coating features a homogenised and smoother surface finish. Also by geometrically modifying the lobes of the new fluteless tap the contact area between tool and operating area is optimised. This reduces the temperature as well as the torque and the axial force by up to 30 percent. And thanks to the optimised lubricating grooves the lubricating effect has been clearly improved in the forming lead area. In all, tool life and thread quality is therefore super increased.
